Description:
Designed as the affordable residential component of a 4.1 site plan, the project provides much needed affordable housing just blocks away from the Ballston Metro station. An efficient design of interlocking apartments was developed resulting in multi-bedroom units comprising over 80% of the total 90 units. The building provides a transition from the low scale residential neighborhood to the west and the high density offices to the east. The J-shaped plan surrounds a landscaped courtyard allowing for private outdoor recreation and enjoyment. The primary entrance and building lobby is located at the corner of Wilson Blvd. and Wakefield St. and access to the underground parking garage and loading dock is located along 9th Street. The design employs many sustainable strategies and is EarthCraft certified.
